While we were at the Schocks house on the 19th the power went out. So before we ate them out of house and home we went back to our powerless house. That night freezing rain poured over our town. Amidst the silence of a powerless world snapping branches, thudding limbs and breakers bursting sounded so loud. Our magnolia tree in front of the lawn took quite a beating.
I should've gone outside and taken pictures of the beautiful ice and the amazing damage. Trees blocked roads everywhere. But I didn't feel like getting that cold, or having a huge branch fall on me, so I took some up close shots from inside.
Our day included pretty normal play time, hot tea and Top Ramen from the wood stove and jammies all day. When it got dark, Dada got out his laptop and we watched movies upstairs. Our total power outage lasted about 3 days. We're such techy pioneers.

3 days! So many people without power...we only lost it for like 3 seconds (the 3 seconds we were downloading our first picture of the baby and it took 5 minutes to get everything back on-line to actually finish the download) so we felt very blessed and warm.
The snow makes everything look so beautiful, but you will probably be cleaning up the damage from the ice storm for many months! I love how you make even natural disasters a fun adventure.
I love you,
Momacita
Mmmm...Top Ramen over an open flame? He he he he he he...I was worried about all you guys braving it in that power outage. You always know how to make the best out of every situation. I love it!
